Skin-related disorders are witnessing a steady rise in prevalence across India. The distribution and pattern of dermatological conditions in the country are shaped by multiple determinants, including economic development, literacy levels, social and cultural practices, climatic diversity, industrial growth, and access to primary healthcare services. Religious customs and lifestyle variations further influence the occurrence and management of skin diseases.
It is estimated that approximately 10–12% of India’s population is affected by skin disorders, with eczema and psoriasis emerging as leading contributors. Commonly reported conditions include acne (14%), non-specific skin infections (11%), eczema (8%), alopecia (9%), and hyperpigmentation (7%). Other frequently observed disorders include dermatitis (5%), seborrheic dermatitis (5%), intertrigo (5%), scabies (5%), allergies (6%), psoriasis (6%), dandruff (4%), ichthyosis (4%), vitiligo (3%), urticaria (3%), phrynoderma (3%), and folliculitis (2%).
Less prevalent but clinically significant conditions include burns (2%), herpes zoster (2%), scleroderma (2%), miliaria (2%), comedonal acne (2%), atopic dermatitis (2%), dermatophytosis (2%), and milaria-related complications. A smaller subset of dermatological conditions—such as angioedema, hypersensitivity reactions, vaginitis-related skin involvement, erythrokeratoderma, erythema, Hansen’s disease, palmar exfoliation, and melasma—are observed in fewer than 1% of patients.
Environmental factors such as increasing pollution levels, prolonged ultraviolet exposure, and the effects of global warming have accelerated the incidence of photosensitive skin disorders. Conditions like tanning, pigmentation disorders, sunburn, skin malignancies, and infectious dermatoses are rising at an alarming rate. Scientific evidence suggests that even a 1% depletion in the ozone layer can result in a 2–4% increase in tumor incidence.
In response to these evolving disease trends, a specialized and innovative product portfolio has been developed, focusing on trichology, melasma management, and advanced skin rejuvenation solutions.
